يحاول الكاتب والباحث في القرآن وعلومه في هذا الكتاب تسليط الضوء على موضوعات أساسيّة تسهم في فهم طبيعة الخطاب القرآنيّ، ويتوزّع جهد الكاتب في كتابه هذا بين الدفاع عن لغة القرآن الكريم ومنهج فهمه، في مواجهة التيّارات والمدارس الأخرى التي تحاول فرض أساليبها على المسلمين في فهمهم لكتاب ربّهم، وفي مواضع من الكتاب يمكن تصنيف الجهد الذي بذله الكاتب في خانة التأسيس أو التعميق للمنهجيّات التي ابتكرها المسلمون في تاريخ تعاملهم مع القرآن.
وعلى مدى فصول الكتاب الأربع عشرة يعالج الكاتب أهمّ الموضوعات والظواهر التي ترتبط بطبيعة اللغة التي يعتمدها الله سبحانه في خطاب الإنسان. وبعض هذه الموضوعات قديم وما زال موضع نقاشٍ وأخذٍ وردٍّ بين الباحثين في علوم القرآن. وبعضها الآخر جديد أنتجه تطوّر الفكر الإنسانيّ في الغرب والشرق وتعرّف إليه المسلمون وحاول بعضهم تطبيقه على القرآن واعتماد آليّاته في تفسير الكتاب المجيد. ولمّا كان تبدّل المناهج والآليّات يترك أثره على النتائج والأفهام، كان لا بدّ لمثل هذه الأفكار أن تطرح للنقاش وتوضع بين أيدي المهتمّين والراغبين.
