قام الكاتب في الكتاب الذي بين يدينا أن يكون التأليف بالطريق العمودي وليس بالطريق الأفقي وخاصة أمراض البطن كافة حيث تدرس أمراض كل عضو من الناحية الداخلية مع كل الاستقصاءات اللازمة وطريقة المعالجات الجراحية والاختلاطات الجراحية وبهذا يكون مثلاً موضوع الكبد (أمراض الكبد). ويتوسع الكاتب في دراسة أراض البطن والثدي والدرق وهي الأمراض الشائعة. أما عند الأطفال فيركز على الرعاية الصحية الأولية واللقاحات والتغذية ومعالجة وأعراض الأمراض الشائعة وخاصة الاسهالات والتهاب الطرق التنفسية العلوية وسوء التغذية. أما في التوليد وأمراض النساء فيتعرض للرعاية الأولية ومراقبة الحمل وتنظيم الأسرة والولادة الطبيعية واستطبابات القيصرية وبعض الأمراض الشائعة عند النساء. كما يناقش الأمراض الاسعافية عموماً ومعالجة الطوارئ والتسممات والحروق وتعويض السوائل والشوارد والفيتامينات. أم عن الأمراض الأخرى فقد كان الحديث عنها باختصار ما عدا الأمراض الشائعة ويذكر الكتاب ما يجب على الطبيب الممارس أن يعرفه.
