بعد كتاب "عقد اليواقيت الجوهرية" للإمام العلامة " الحبيب عيدروس بن عمر الحبشي" (1237- 1314هـ) من أهم الأسانيد الموصولة إلى سلف الأمة الإسلامية، فهو كتاب عظيم، جامع حاو للإجازات والوصايا وأسانيد الكتب الإسلامية والعلوم الشرعية: الفروع والأصول، والمنقول والمعقول، وطرق السادة الصوفية من الرجال الهمام. وعليه ينقسم كتاب "عقد اليواقيت الجوهرية" إلى جزئين، جاء الجزء الأول في مقدمة وبابين:
وأما الباب الأول: في ذكر طريقة السادة العلوية، وشرح ماهيتها، وما لها من الفضيلة والمزية، وذكر الترغيب في سلوكها، وذم العدول عنها وإتباع غيرها من الطرائق... وأما الباب الثاني فجاء في: ذكر بعض أسانيد السادة العلويين وأسماء أساتذتها، من غير ذكر شمائلهم ومناقبهم للإختصار، وهو منقول عن العلماء المحققين الثقات. ويشتملعلى ذكر بعض وصايا نافعات، وإجازات يعرف بها الإتصالات، لتتحقق بها الروايات.
وأما الجزء الأول فاحتوى على فصلين :جاء الفصل الأول: في ذكرأشياخ الحبيب عمر بن سقاف ورفع إسنادهم. وأما الفصل الثاني فيأتي فس سند آخر إلى الشيخ الأشهر العبدروس الأكبر، ثم إلى الشيخ علي بن علوي، إلى جده الأستاذ والأعظم، الفقيه المقدم.
يشار إلى أن مؤلف الكتاب " الإمام العلامة الشريف المسند عيدروس بن عمر الحبشي عالم كبير من أعلام حضرموت في القرن الثالث عشر الهجري، يكاد يتفرَد في الديار الحضرمية في وقته بعنايته بعلوم الأستاذ والرواية عناية تامة، وقد ترك عدة مؤلفات وآثار في هذا المجال، أبرزها وأهمها كتاب الجامع "عقود اليواقيت الجوهرية" الذي يعدَه أهل حضرموت سفرهم الجامع في فن الرواية وبيان إتصال سلاسل العلماء والصلحاء جيلاً إلى جيل ...".
