إن معرفة قواعد اللغة العربية بنَحْوها وصَرْفها ضرورةٌ لا يمكن الإستغناء عنها؛ غير أنها ليست غايةً مقصودةً لذاتها؛ بل هي وسيلةٌ تُعِين على تقويم اللسان، وضبْط التعبير، وعصمة الأسلوب من الخطأ بحيث تؤهِّل العارفَ بها ليكون قادراً على النطق القويم والقراءة الصحيحة، والكتابة السليمة.
ولولا الإعرابُ لَما مُيِّزَ فاعلٌ من مفعولٍ، ولا مضافٌ من منعوتٍ، ولا تعجُّبٌ من إستفهامٍ، ولا نعتٌ من توكيدٍ... فأما مضمون هذا الكتاب فإنه لم يخرج عن نهج كتبٍ كثيرة معروفةٍ وموثوقةٍ.
وأمَّا شكل هذا الكتاب فإنه يتماهى مع شبكات المعلوماتية حيث يُقدِّمُ القاعدة من خلال لوحةٍ ذات خطوطٍ وأسهُمٍ تتَّحدُ وتنفصلُ فتربطُ بين الجذور والجذوع، وتمتدُّ من الأغصان إلى الفروع، فتؤتي أمثلةً متساغةً سهلةً التناول والفهم، ثمَّ يُردِفُ القاعدة بجملةٍ من الفوائد المشفوعة بأمثلةٍ بعنايةٍ، ثم يختتمُ بتطبيقاتٍ في الإعراف تتناول بتفصيلٍ ما له علاقةٌ بالقواعد أو الفوائد وترسِّخُ ما ورد فيها وفق ترتيبها.
ويتألف هذا الكتاب من بابين: الأول في النحو، ويقع في أحد عشر فصلاً، الثاني في الصرف، ويقع في خمسة فصول.
