وساهمت التطورات المتلاحقة في شبكة الإنترنت إلى ظهور شكل جديد من الإعلام يسمى الإعلام الجديد الذي أتاح للمستخدمين الوصول الأسرع والأيسر إلى المعلومات وأصبح بإمكان المستخدم أن يقوم بالإرسال والإستقبال في الوقت نفسه، لذلك يعود موضوع الإعلام الجديد من الموضوعات المهمة والمطروحة على الساحة العربية والعالمية بسبب الإقبال المتزايد على إستخدامها، فضلاً عن الدور الذي تلعبه في حياة الأفراد إذ ساهمت هذه الوسائل في تخطي الحدود والفوارق وتلبية حاجات الجمهور، وتشكيل منابر إعلامية جديدة وحرة وأصبح بمقدور الجمهور ولا سيما الشباب منهم أن يكتبوا ما يريدوا ويراسلوا من يرغبون في بيئة إعلامية تسودها الحرية وبعيداً عن الرقابة بإشكالها المتنوعة.
