حظيت مسألة صوم يوم الغيم (يوم الثلاثين من شعبان) باهتمام الفقهاء، ونالت جهداً كبيراً من البحث والتصنيف نظراً لما وقع فيها من الخلاف.
وكان فقهاء الحنابلة أكثر الناس اهتماماً بهذه المسألة نظراً لكونها من مفردات المذهب، حيث ذهب أكثرهم –ولا سيما المتأخرين- إلى وجوب صوم هذا اليوم، وعنوا عناية بالغة في إفرادها بالتصنيف والرد على مخالفيهم ومنتقديهم.
ويحسن هنا التنبيه على أن بعض محققي الحنابلة –كابن القيم وابن عبد الهادي- قد أفضى بهم اجتهادهم في هذه المسألة إلى موافقة الجمهور القائلين بعدم وجوب صوم هذا اليوم، بل إنهما قد بالغا في الانتصار لذلك.
وكان للإمام العلامة ابن الجوزي جهد متميز في إثراء التصنيف في هذه المسألة، حيث أفرد لها هذا الكتاب (درء اللوم والضيم في صوم يوم الغيم)، وهو من أجمع الكتب المؤلفة في هذه المسألة، وأقواها استدلالاً، وأوسعها بحثاً، حيث انتصر فيه للقول بوجوب صوم هذا اليوم، وحشد فيه أدلة كثيرة من المنقول والمعقول تدعم ما ذهب إليه، كما ستعرض فيه حجج المخالفين ورد عليها بتوسع.
وبالجملة فالحنابلة من بعد ابن الجوزي عيال على هذا الكتاب في تحرير هذه المسألة، لأنه قد أفرغ الوسع في تحريره وتهذيبه. وهو الكتاب الثالث من سلسلة (المدارج العلية إلى الآثار الحنبلية).
