رواية حلم الغرفة الحمراء أو كما يطلق عليها بالإنجليزية Dream of Red Chamber تعتبر هذه الرواية من أفضل الروايات في الأدب الصيني فهي من أجمل الروايات الكلاسيكية في التراث الصيني على الإطلاق بلا مُنازع لأنها كتبت في أواخر القرن الثامن عشر.
قام بتأليفها المؤلف تساو - هوشية - تشين وتم نشرها منذ كتابتها عدة مرات ما بين العام 1754 وعام 1791 لتحقق الرواية مبيعات كثيرة حيث أنها باعت أكثر من 100 مليون نسخة حول العالم وترجمت لكل لغات العالم.
وتعتبر هذه الرواية التراثية توثيقاً وتأريخاً مُقرباً لحياة الصينيين في تلك الفترة وكذلك كانت تسلط الضوء على كل تناقضات الإمبراطورية الصينية حين ذاك، بداية من العائلة الإمبراطورية وأقربائها وأصدقاءها ومحالفيها، مروراً إلى الفقراء والمساكين والفلاحين ورجال الدين وغيرهم وأعداء هذه الإمبراطورية.
كتب (تساو - هوشية - تشين) روايته تلك وهو شيخ عجوز، وفي ظل ظروف إقتصادية صعبة للغاية في إحدى ضواحي بكين التي يسكنها الفقراء حين توفي بعد كتابتها...
