إن العربية في الدين بالمحل الأعلى، والمقام الأعز الأسنى؛ إذ هو السلم الذي فيه يرتقي إلى فهم الخطاب، والقنطرة التي عليها المجاز إلى معرفة السنة والكتاب، على ذلك أجمع أهل العلم سلفًا وخلفًا، وتقربوا إلى الله بطلبها زلفى، وشرطوها في صحة الإمامة العظمى، فما دونها من الولايات، وعدوها من أهم فروض الكفايات، واعتنوا قديمًا وحديثًا بحفظ أشعار العرب ونثرهم، وغير ذلك من خطبهم وأسجاعهم وأمرهم.
ثم لما فترت في هذا الأوان همم أبناء الزمان، وأعرضوا عن هذا المهم العظيم الشأن حاولت اختصار مقاصدها، والاقتصار على المهم من فوائدها؛ لأضرب بين أربابها بسهم مصيب، وأفوز بالدعوة إليها بحظ ونصيب، فوفقني الله- وله الحمد- أن شرحت القصيدة اللامية المسماة "أبنية الأفعال في علم التصريف" للإمام جمال الدين محمد بن عبدالله بن مالك رحمه الله تعالى، فضبطت ألفاظها، وفتحت مغلقها. وضممت إلى ذلك فوائد، وإشارات، وتتميمات، وتنبيهات، واخترعت لها تفسيرات، فجاء بحمد الله كتابًا جامعًا بين علمي اللغة والتصريف، مانعًا من الخطأ والتصحيف والتحريف.
