ولما كانت الرواية من أهم الأشكال السردية، فإنها احتلت الصدارة في تلك الدرسات ولا تزال محل إهتمام النقاد لكونها تمثل ملحمة العصر الحديث وسجل المجتمع البشري، تطرح بطريقتها الفنية المتميزة القضايا التي شغلت الإنسان وتشغله، فكما استطاعت أن تعالج الإشكاليات الفكرية والإجتماعية والسياسية والنفسية، استطاعت أن تكون بمثابة سجل تاريخي لحياة الإنسان، يجد فيها القارئ والباحث على السواء ما يبحث عنه.
من هنا، تبرز أهمية الرواية كفن أدبي له مكانته بين باقي الأنواع الأدبية إذا لم نقل يتصدرها، مما جعله يجلب أنظار المشتغلين بحقل الأدب خاصة في العصر الحديث وبالضبط في أوروبا، حيث ظهرت عدة روائع استفزت أفلام العديد من النقاد مدة طويلة ولا تزال.
من هذا المنطلق أردت تقديم مكونات الخطاب الروائي الممثلة في الزمان والمكان، الراوي والمنظور في مستواها النظري، إذ تعرضت لأهم النظريات التي اشتغلت بهذه المكونات، فيسهل على القارئ إدراكها وإستيعابها، وتشكل له منطلقاً وقاعدة يؤسس عليها الدراسة التطبيقة، خاصة إذا توصل المنهج البنيوي، إذ المعروف عند الدارسين من أنّ هدف البنيويّة هو كشف بناء النص أيّا كانت طبيعته، أو كشف العناصر التي بها تتشكل البيئة الكبرى للنص.
