المصدر الأساسي للمعلومات الواردة في هذه الببليوغرافيا جاء من المصادر الحية المتمثلة في الأدب المهجري... وفي أشخاصه... وفي كتابه... ومن دراسات نقاد الأدب العربي... ومؤرّخيه... وقد بلغت حصيلة ما جمع من هذه المصادر التي حصرت تلك الأوعية المتمثلة فيما رصدته هذه الببليوغرافيا 968 بطاقة أوعية المعلومات... وكان البعد الموضوعي فيها تسجيل الكتب العربية المطبوعة بين عامي 1892 و1950 بصرف النظر عن الموضوع، وإن كان يغلب على هذه المطبوعات كتب الأدب العربي بفنيه الشعر... والنثر. وإذا كانت هذه الببليوغرافيا تشمل أمريكا الشمالية والوسطى والجنوبية فإنها من حيث البعد الإنتاجي تسجل جميع أوعية النشر التقليدية المعروفة في ذلك الوقت، وهي الكتاب والوعاء الدوري بشقيه من جرائد ومجلات. وبشكل عام تتوجه هذه الببليوغرافيا إلى جميع الدارسين والمهتمين باستخراج المؤشرات والمقاييس الببليوغرافية العامة... والنوعية الكامنة في أوعية النشر المعروفة للأدب المهجري...
