يحتوي هذا الكتاب على حديثين طويلين مشهورين بارزين رواهما بإسناده إلى عائشة رضي الله عنها، كان لكل منهما دلالته الخاصة به.
فالحديث الأول: يدل على حسن المعاشرة مع الأهل، وعلى المكانة التي كانت تتبوؤها أم المؤمنين لدى الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، وعلى صفاء العلاقة بينهما وحسن المعاملة، وعلى جواز محادثة الأهل بما لا إثم فيه، وهو المشهور بحديث أم زرع.
وقد اعتنى العلماء بهذا الحديث -بشرح غريبه أحياناً، أو الكلام على معانيه وفوائده أحياناً أخرى- سواء داخل كتبهم، أو أفردوه بمؤلف خاص به.
وأما الحديث الثاني: فهو يشتمل على المحنة التي عاشتها رضي الله عنها في حادثة الإفك، وهي السحابة السوداء، والمحنة الكبراء التي قاستها، ولكن عناية الله أدركتها، فبددت تلك السحابة، وردت إلى بيت النبوية طبيعتها، وخرجت السيدة عائشة من هذه المحنة منتصرة، بل زادت مكانتها في قلبه صلى الله عليه وسلم، وضمت منقبة جديدة إلى مناقبها، بل شهادة ربانية بطهارتها، بآيات تتلى على الألسن إلى يوم القيامة.
