نطلق رواية حمّام اليهودي من أرضية الأقليات الدينية في العراق التي توجهت اليها معظم روايات ما بعد 2003 وهذه المرة يسعى المؤلف الى معاينة الواقع اليهودي في مدينة كربلاء ما قبل سنة 1920 عبر شخصية مركزية ساردة لكل الأحداث التي تناولتها الرواية .. حمام اليهودي حكاية رجل عراقي يهودي استوطن كربلاء وأحبّ المدينة وعاش في كل تفصيلاتها اليومية والاجتماعية وطقوسها الدينية وتشبّع بها كلياً من دون أن يترك يهوديته ، وتمكن عبر فترة قصيرة من أن يشتري بيتاً لأسرته ومن ثم يفتح محلاً لصياغة الذهب وبالتالي يكبر طموحه ليبني حمّاماً عاماً في المدينة ، غير أن الحمّام لم يُكتب له النجاح بسبب طابع المدينة الديني المقدس واعتبار اليهود أنجاساً فلا يجوز للمسلمين أن يتحمموا به..! الرواية سيرة ذاتية ليهودي عاش أحداث كربلاء وبغداد والعراق في تلك الحقبة التي شهدت تقلبات سياسية كثيرة هدّدت الوجود اليهودي في البلاد على نحو مباشر منذ احتلال العراق من قبل القوات البريطانية وما رافقها من دعوات تبشيرية ليهود العراق بالذهاب الى فلسطين كأرض لميعاد اليهود ..!
