بعد المقدمة وصفحة المحتويات قسمت الكتاب إلى أقسام بلغ عددها أربعة عشر قسماً يتناول كل قسم جزءاً مما أريد أن أقدمه للقارئ العزيز/ القارئة العزيزة عن البورتفوليو بأنواعه المختلفة، مع محاولة شرح كيف يعد البورتفوليو لأغراض مختلفة وربط ما تقوله الأدبيات والمراجع والبحوث بواقع التطبيق العملي كما يمارس في المدارس في مصر دون الإطالة في هذا الجزء حيث لم يكن هدفي من هذا الكتاب.
وكما هو موضح بصفحة المحتويات تناول أقسام الكتاب فكرة البورتفوليو واستخدامه في التعليم والتعلم، وأهدافه وأهميته، ثم سياحة استعراضه لأنواع البورتفوليو لتلاميذ وطلاب التعليم قبل الجامعي، ثم بورتفوليو الطالب/ المعلم في مرحلة إعداده بكليات التربية، وانتقالاً إلى بورتفوليو المعلم طوال حياته المهنية، وكان لزاماً أن أتناول البورتفوليو الإلكتروني الذي أصبح واقعاً ضرورياً في إطار التطور التكنولوجي وتوافر إمكانات الكمبيوتر الهائلة، ولم يفوتني عرض إمكانية إعداد واستخدام البورتفوليو مع ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة.
أما الجزء الأخير من الكتاب فقد ركز على البحوث التي أجريت في مجال البورتفوليو في التليم والتعلم، وفيه أردت أن أقدم لأبنائي الباحثين وبناتي الباحثات بعض الأفكار التي يمكن أن تفتح لهم آفاقاً جديدة في بحوث التربية، وبخاصة في المناهج وطرق التدريس في هذا المجال، في نهاية الكتاب قائمة مراجع مرتبطة بالبورتفوليو، استعنت بكثير منها، ولكن ليس بكلها، ولكني أردت أن أثري خلفية القارئ في الموضوع.
