في كتابه هذا يتتبع الدكتور "جعفر آل ياسين" مواقف فلاسفة العرب المسلمون إزاء آراء وفدت عليهم، تحمل في طياتها ضروباً شتى من أعمال بناة هذا الفكر الفلسفي منذ أقدم قديمه –الفلسفة اليونانية- وانتهاءً بمرحلة النقد العقلاني البناء.
لأجل ذلك يتحرى هذا الكتاب مسارب ومنابع مواقف فلاسفة العرب ويضعها في إطارها الصحيح، على إختلاف ميادين المعرفة فيختار من بين ثنايا هذا الفكر الإسلامي العملاق منهج "الكندي" في مبحث بعنوان "نظرة عقلانية نحو الكون" ويتفحص رؤية الفارابي نحو الإنسان ونظرته للبناء السياسي والاجتماعي في مبحث آخر بعنوان "مدينة متطورة فاضلة"، وأهم ما تميزت به جماعة إخوان الصفا من أفكار فلسفية متباينة بعنوان لافت "تلفيق ووفيق وتوثيق إخوان الصفا". أما فيلسوف العلم وحكيم المعرفة ابن سينا فخصص له مبحث بعنوان "تصوف عقلاني" ثم يعرض لأفكار ومنهج الغزالي السياسي والديني من خلال "سيرة مفكر وفكر"، وآخر هذه الوقفات مع فيلسوف مجدد للفلسفة الإسلامية هو "ابن رشد" في مبحث بعنوان "وجود أصيل وحركة جوهرية".
وفي جميع هذه المباحث يعرض مؤلف الكتاب لفلسفات أولئك الأعلام ويحلل ويناقش ويسجل موقفاً وهو ما يميز الكتاب ومؤلفه.
