كريشنا الهندي هو صنو مردوخ البابلي، وزيوس الإغريقي، ولــ"كريشنا" في البداية الهندوسية مكانة خاصة لا تضاهى، أما هذه الديانة فقد تجاوزت الهند لتصل إلى أمريكا وأوروبا، وفاق من يعتقدون بها في العالم المليار ونصف المليار.
لقد عكف مؤلف هذا الكتاب "كاينالال مانيكلال مونشي" (1887- 1971) قرابة عشرين سنة على دراسة مختلف الحكايات والروايات المكتوبة والشفاهية، من أجل أن يقدم هذه الصياغة الدقيقة والمتألقة لسيرة كريشنا، والتي تعانق الأسئلة الكبرى للوجود والحاجات الإنسانية.
وكان المؤلف أحد المشاركين في وضع الدستور الهندي، وقد عمل مع المهاتما غاندي ومحمد علي جناح ونهرو، وهو روائي وباحث، خلّف عدداً من الأعمال الهامة بلغة الكوجرات وباللغة الإنكليزية.
ولا ريب في إن إصدار هذا العمل الملحمي الكبير (كريشنا) كاملاً، باللغة العربية، هو مساهمة كبرى في تقديم كنوز الإبداع والفكر والخيال الإنساني، ومن هذه الكنوز مما أصدرته دار الحوار أيضاً:
