"لم تبدو السماء هكذا يا جدتي؟ ألا يستطيع الله أن يجعله أكثر صفاء كي نرى هلاله ونحتفل بالعيد غدا؟
أتاني صوتها الواهن والذي لا يخلو من رنين حاد: إنها حمراء بابني لأنهم قتلوا الأبرياء في ذلك السجن الكبير وتلك هي دماؤهم تنتشر في السماء وتصبغها بهذا اللون الحمر.
لم أستطع فهم ما تقول، وبقيت أحدق في السماء بحثاً عن هلال العيد كي أرتدي الدشداشة الجديدة التي أتتني بها خالتي، ولكن لغز الدماء ظل يحيرني.. إذ كيف تنتشر في السماء وأية سيارة رش تستطيع رفعها ورشها في هذا الأفق المترامي الذي يخفي هلال العيد؟
اليوم وأنا أستعيد تلك الأحداث وأرقب الأفق الأرجواني أرى الأيام تعي نفسها وأذكر آخر ما دار بيني وبين خالي من حوار: لماذا قتلوا السجناء؟، لأنهم يريدون إسقاط الحكومة.، وهل يستطيعون...؟!"
