يشتمل هذا الكتاب على عشر فصول, تغطى مختلف ضروب المعرفة السياسية على تباين قطاعاتها وتعدد فروعها, وذلك على النحو التالى:
فصل تمهيدى بعنوان "المعرفة السياسية", ويتناول التعريف بمدولو لفظة "المعرفة" ولفظة "السياسة", وكذا بالفروع المختلفة للمعرفة السياسية.
الفصل الأول وعنوانه "فى صلب عالم السياسة والظواهر السياسية" ونعرض فيه لمقومات الطبع السياسى فى الإنسان, وانعكاساتها فى الحياة الأجتماعية, كما نعرف بالمجتمع السياسى, وبصوره التاريخية المنظمة.
الفصل الثانى وعنوانه "فى نظرية الدولة", ونعرض فيه لأظهر الخصائص القيمة التى تراكمت على المجتمع السياسى منه دولة -وفقا للمدلول الأصطلاحى لهذا المفهوم والتى أظهرها التجانس القومى, والتنظيم القانونى للسلطة, وخاصة السيادة, كما يتعرض هذا الفصل أيضا لظاهرة الفيدرالية بصورها المختلفة.
الفصل الثالث وعنوانه "فى النظم السياسية" ويشمل على التعريف بالمؤسسات السياسية الحاكمة, وبأطهر النظم السياسية المعاصرة من حيث أصولها الأيدلوجية.
الفصل الرابع وعنوانه "فى تنظيم اليمقراطية", ويشتمل على القواعد التنظيمية الضابطة للممارسة الديمقراطية فى المجتمعات اللليبرالية الغربية.
الفصل الخامس وعنوانه "الصراع والتكامل فى عالم السياسة" ويتناول التعريف بمفهوم الصراع السياسي وبالعوامل المختلفة المحركة للصراع فى المجتمعات, فضلا عن دور مؤسسات السلطة السياسية فى تحقيق التكامل السياسي لهذه المجتمعات.
الفصل السادس وعنوانه "فى الحياة السياسية" ويشمل على التعريف بالمدلول الاصظلاحى لعبارة "الحياة السياسية" وبالصورة المختلفة للمشاركة فيها.
الفصل السابع وعنوانه "فى التحليل العلمى للحياة السياسية", ونعرض فيه لاستخدام المنهج العلمى التجريبى وما تراكم عليه من نظرة سلوكية فى تحليل الحياة السياسية.
الفصل الثامن وعنوانه "فى مناهج المعرفة السياسية", ويتناول موضوع مناهج المعرفة السياسية من مناهج المعرفة بوجه عام, وكذا تطور مناهج المعرفة السياسية منذ العصر اليونانى وحتى العصر الحديث.
