لست من ''مجاذيب'' أم كلثوم.. بل لست من عشاقها بشكل مطلق.. بمعنى أننى أحب عددًا غير قليل من أغنياتها لا كل ما تغنت به ولا كل آهة وهمسة وحركة صدرت عنها.. لكني بلا شك أحترم قيمتها الفنية بصرف النظر عن الدخول في خلافات فقهية وأراء بعيدة عن الناحية الفنية.. لكن لا أحد ينكر أن أم كلثوم كانت حالة وظاهرة لها أهميتها في عالمنا العربي بشكل عام ولمصر بشكل خاص. مما جعلها دون أن نشعر وشئنا أم أبينا تشكل ثقافة ما في حياتنا اليومية.. فما من أحد لم يصل إلى مسمعه ويتسرب إلي وجدانه صوت أم كلثوم في وقت «العصارى» أو المساء وهو يسير في شوارع وأزقة القطر المصري والأقطار العربية بشكل عام. فشكل له صوتها وبعض كلمات أغانيها وألحانها خلفية لمشواره أو مهمته التي يسعى لها. ودون إرادة منه سيجد نفسه يستشهد بجملة من أغنياتها؛ كأن نقول لبعضنا على سبيل المثال «عايزنا نرجع زي زمان قول للزمان ارجع يا زمان» أو«للصبر حدود».. أو«حب إيه اللي إنت جاي تقول عليه» وتنويعاتها بعد أن نحذف كلمة حب ونضع بدلًا منها ما شئنا.. أو«أروح لمين»
و«يا ظالمني» وهكذا.. باختصار فإن أم كلثوم في زمن ما كانت تشكل «آهة» أو زفرة تعبيرية عن حالة شجن أصبحت مكونًا رئيسيًّا للشخصية العربية وربما الشرقية. هي الغلاف السوليفان الشجي لكثير من مواقفنا إن كان ألمًا أو فرحًا.. عشقًا أو جفاءً أو هجرًا.. أو مكابدة.. وأحيانًا تصوفًا.. حتى كأنني أكاد أجزم دون أن يكون معى إثبات ما بذلك أن أم كلثوم ككثير من أهل الفن والثقافة في العالم كله وُظِّفت مخباراتيًّا بشكل ما؛ لتشكيل الوعي أحيانًا أو لتأجيجه في أحيان أخرى. وكثير من الأحيان لتغييبه أو تخديره بصرف النظر عن رأيي الخاص فيها وفي ذلك الزمن «الجميل» الذي بزغت فيه.
