وحده الشعر يقارع رياح الزمن الآتي، منها هو الشاعر "عادل محمود" يبحر بالشعر إلى حيث لا يدري عن مصير بلاده، (سورية) فيكتب عن الماضي وذكرياته مثلما يكتب عن الحاضر وأوجاعه، في "الليل أفضل أنواع الإنسان" يتوجه شاعرنا "إلى القلب السوري الذي يحمل الحب، بعد كل هذه الكراهيات، ممكناً" وبهذا المعنى الذي يفتتح به الشاعر عمله، سيجد القارئ للنص خصوصية مختلفة (راهنة) بكل تفاصيلها، وتشظياتها، وتوقعاتها.
يقول الشاعر: "السوري... لا يرسمُ رغيفاً على جدارٍ... حنيناً إلى زمن وفرتهِ الماضي... لأنه، قبل الميلاد، كان يطعم 25 مليون روماني... السوري... يعرف أن الفارق بين "الحرية" و"الحريّة"... نقطة... السوري... صبور لأنه معماري... اليوم اصبح نزفاً قليلاً لأنه يتفرج على ما يتهدم... السوري... لا أحد يعرف حزنه... لأنه يسقي أزهاره، بدموعه، سرّاً... السوري نعاس... لا غفلة".
هكذا، يعد الشاعر عادل محمود عن وجع الإنسان السوري في الوطن والغربة، يضع على يده الجراح، ويعيش الخيبات، ويحلم مع الحاملين والحالمات بحياة أفضل وإن كانت على الورق فـ "كل شوكة في التراب وردة في الخيال"...
