شوقي حجاب شاعر ومخرج مصري، ولد في المطرية - دقهلية عام 1946، تربى في كنف أب أزهري كان يكتب الشعر ويقتني الكتب ويعشق الثقافة، وأم متعلمة تقرأ وتمتلك خيالاً خصباً وتراثاً من الأمثلة الشعبية والحواديت والحكايات.
على يد أبيه تعلم عروض الشعر وتعرف على مكتبته، وقد ساعده على الاتجاه لكتابة الشعر كل من أبيه وأخيه الأكبر الشاعر المعروف سيد حجاب، ورغم كتابته الشعر والأغنية للكبار، الاَّ أن الكتابة للطفل لها النصيب الأكبر في اهتماماته، وتميز ابداعه في مجال البرامج والدراما التلفزيونية وكذلك في مسرح الطفل، درس أيضاً الاخراج بمعهد السينما ومارسه.
