إن الإمام أحمد هو أعلم أهل الحديث رواية ودراية ، وهو الثابت في المحنة الذي ردّ الله به الفتنة . وقد انتسب إليه في العصور المتأخرة جماعات من الناس ابتعدوا عن منهجه وطريقته ، وفهموا الشرع بخلاف منهم السلف الصالح ، وظنوا أن هذا هو مذهب الحنابلة وأهل الحديث فوقعوا في شذوذات فقهية وعقوبة كثيرة لم يقل بمجموعها أحد من علماء السلف . وقد ردّ على هذه الفرقة المسماة بالسلفية كثير من الحنابلة وأهل السنة ، إلا أن مؤلفاتهم لم تنتشر وتشتهر فرأى المؤلف ضرورة تأليف كتاب يكون خلاصة لردود أهل السنة والجماعة ، فكان هذا الكتاب ، الذي جاء تحت عنوان : " السادة الحنابلة واختلافهم مع السلفية المعاصرة في العقيدة والتصوف " . والكتاب يأتي بمثابة خلاصة لردود السادة الحنابلة على هذه الفرقة لأسباب منها : - بيان مذهب الحنابلة الصحيح في العقيدة والفقه ، وهو مذهب موافق لجمهور أهل السُنة والجماعة . - إظهار الفروقات بين مذهب السادة الحنابلة ومذهب السلفية المعاصرة ، وقطع الصلة بينهما . هذا وقد تضمن الكتاب أربعة فصول : الأول منها جاء في التعريف بالإمام أحمد والمذهب ومكانة إبن تيمية والحنابلة الذين ردّوا على السلفية المعاصرة . الفصل الثاني : تضمن دراسة حول العقائد بين الحنابلة والسلفية المعاصرة . وحول الفقه والمسائل الفقهية التي خالفت فيها السلفية المعاصرة مذهب الحنابلة . جاء الفصل الثالث ، وختم المؤلف كتابه ببحث تناول فيه موضوع التصوف عند الحنابلة . ويشير المؤلف بأنه اتبع في كتابه هذا قوله تعالى : [ ادع إلى سبيل ربك بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة وجادلهم بالتي هي أحسن ] [ النحل / 125 ] ولم يتبع أسلوب التشهير والتشنيع ، بل كان همه محاكمة القول لا القائل ، فإن اتباع الحق أولى من اتباع المشايخ ، والدفاع عن الحق واجب على كل طالب علم .
