يُطلق مصطلح الكارما - كما جاء في الفلسفة الهندوسية والبوذية – على عواقب السلوك الذي يقوم به الإنسان سواء كان عمل خير أو شر، بشرط أن يكون السلوك ناتجاً عن وعي وإدراك مسبق وما يترتب عليه من عواقب أخلاقية. تنمو هذه النتائج وتنضج وتسقط على صاحبها فيكون جزاؤه من جنس عمله.
