وجدنا أن مشكلة البحث: تنطلق من عنوان الموضوع الذي يشكل بعنوانه، ثرية للنص، موجهاً وهادياً، ويمكننا أن نحدد أبعاد هذا المشكلة التي تمثلت في عنوان الموضوع، حيث تقوم على غياب التواصل بين الفلسفة والتاريخ، هذا الغياب الذي تسبب في حدوث الهوة الكبيرة بين المؤرخ والفيلسوف، ونتج عنه إختلاف الرؤية للتاريخ بينهما، وإن غياب العلاقة بين الفلسفة والتاريخ له أسباب كثيرة.
يبدو لأن أن دراسة العلاقة بين الفلسفة بوصفها الحاضنة، والمنهج التاريخي بوصفه ملازماً، قد تعرضت إلى التغييب من قبل كثير من الباحثين الذي يرون أن المنهج التاريخي، منعزل ومستقل تماماً عن الفلسفة، وذلك أن المنهج التاريخي لديهم حاز على الإستقلالية والخصوصية، مما أعطاهم حق التصريح بإمكانية دراسة التاريخ من دون الرجوع إلى الفلسفة ويقابل هذه الأفكار آخرون يحاولون تجاهل إستقلالية علم التاريخ وجعله تابع للفلسفة، محاولين طمس هوية التاريخ، متجاهلين ما للتاريخ من أثر في رسم مسارات الامم.
فبين هذين الفريقين ظهرت هذه المشكلة، مشكلة التواصل بين التاريخ والفلسفة، ومردها أن فلسفة التاريخ، غالباً ما يتم تدريسها من قبل أساتذة في التاريخ، ليس لديهم درجة علمية تؤهلهم تخصصياً، أو ممن لديهم دراية تخصصية في الفلسفة، لكن ليس لديهم اهتمام بالتاريخ ومناهج البحث التاريخي، مما يجعله يصدر أحكاماً قبلية على التاريخ ومنهجه، وهذه الأحكام عادة ما تكون لدى أساتذة الفلسفة الذين ليس لديهم درجة تخصصية في المنهج التاريخي.
