في هذا العمل يتخذ السيد علي الموسوي الكرمارودي من أسلوب القص الروائي أداة للحديث عن سيرة النبي محمد عليه السلام. منذ الولادة وحتى الوفاة.
وفي هذا السياق يبدأ المؤلف بإلقاء الضوء على مختلف مظاهر الحياة الإجتماعية لمدينة مكة، نظامها القبلي، عاداتها، تقاليدها، فصاحة أهلها، تجارتهم ورحلتهم في الصيف والشتاء إلى كل من الشام واليمن.
بعد ذلك يقسم المؤلف كتابه إلى محطات تبدأ بميلاد سيدنا محمد في السابع عشر من ربيع الأول لعام (570) ميلادي، والفرح الذي ساد بني هاشم بقدومه ومباركة الجميع لعبد المطلب. يلي ذلك "رضاعته" عليه السلام على يد حليمة بن سعد" وطفولته ومشيه وبركته التي عمت الآفاق، ثم سفره إلى يثرب ووفاة والدته آمنة ورعاية عمه أبو طالب له.
وعلى هذا المنوال يكمل الكتاب سيرة بني الرحمة محمد (ص) في أسفاره، وزواجه، وبعثته، وهجرته، وحروبه، وغزواته، ودفاعه عن الإسلام حتى حجة الوداع، وروايات أخرى منقولة عن أجداد النبي (ص) يسوقها المؤلف للإضاءة على حياة الرسول بمختلف مراحلها حتى وفاته عليه السلام.
