"كانت اللقالق تحلق في سماء سورية... فتأخذ بنفسي رغبة الكتابة وكلما هممت بذلك وجدت ذاكرتي مثقلة جثثاً.. تحت نير الاحتلال الصهيوني ومثقلة وجوهاً شوهتها الحرائق. فيتراءى لي منير الذي مات، وستي التي ماتت، وحسن الذي قيد وضرب، وعزمي الذي مات، وجلال الذي في السجن، وكل الرجال الآخرين الذين عذبوا بالكهرباء. وتلوح لي الرشيدية، مدينتنا التي دُكت. وثكالى صبرا النائحات" إنها نظرة ممرضة إلى مأساة لبنان. "يبدو لي أنني أتجه نحو الموت المحقق بل إنني لأعلم ذلك علم اليقين، وأطلبه، ولسوف تكون تلك أجمل ميتة، مثلما هي حياتي ها هنا..".
بين هذه الرؤية، وهذا العمل التحرري، يتموقع كتاب فرنسواز كيستمان، أو بالأحرى قصيدة حياتها التي انقشع منها الكذب وظهرت حقيقة الإرهاب الإسرائيلي. حقيقة عاشتها، يوماً بيوم هذه الفرنسية التي قدمت تبغي تضميد الجراح، فأدركت أنه لن يجديها تضميدها فتيلاً، ما لم تشارك في مقاومة فاعليها. ومن النشيج إلى الألم المشترك إلى صيحة الغضب، وضحكة الأمل، تحمل فرونسواز كيستمان في كل هذه الآلام، وكل هذا الغضب، آلام شعب، هو الشعب الفلسطيني، وغضبه وآماله.
إن قارئ هذا الكتاب ليجد مؤلفته "متجردة" فيه من ضغط راهنه الذي يفترض أنه يحيل عليه، يتجلى ذلك في احتفاء الكاتب بتصوير حياة الإنسان الفلسطيني في أدق دقائقها، واستغوار عاداته وتقاليده، وطبيعة رؤيته للعالم والأشياء من خلال ما نسجت من أحاديث أبناء فلسطين اللاجئين. وربما وجد القارئ أيضاً من خلال ما ساقت المؤلفة في كتابها من أحاديث القصف والتدمير الإسرائيلي "خلفية" الاستكناه طبيعة الفلسطيني في الحرب، كما خبرتها في الحياة العادية. ولذلك كانت رسائلها تحتفي بالأشخاص أكثر من احتفائها بالأحداث. لقد جاء هذا الكتاب، من كل ذلك، كما أرادته صاحبته: مذكرات امرأة في العالم! ولا غرو! فلقد صارت فلسطين حالة وجودية عالمية.
