هذا بالإضافة إلى ما يقدمه هذا الكتاب من معرفة أساسية في تدريس طرق التفكير بالبرهان الرياضي لطلبة قسم الرياضيات بكليات التربية وكليات المعلمين.
يقع الكتاب في أربعة فصول، تناول الفصل الأول أهمية الرياضيات (المسألة الرياضية وحلها)، ويدرس الفصل الثاني نظرة تاريخية لمفهومي التحليل والتركيب من خلال عرض ما قدمه الفلاسفة، والعرب القدامى، والمتخصصين الروس، والتربويين المحدثين.
وخصص الفصل الثالث لدراسة طرق التفكير بالبرهان الرياضي، الطريقة التركيبية، والطريقة التحليلية، ومقارنة بين الطريقة التحليلية والتركيبية، والعلاقة بينهما.
أما الفصل الرابع فقد تضمن نماذج لبعض الدراسات في الطريقتين التحليلية والتركيبية والدمج بينهما، وإعطاء نماذج تطبيقية محلولة لكل من الطريقتين.
