قد يدرج هذا الكتاب في عداد أسلمة العلوم، ولكنه ليس كذلك على التحقيق، إنما كتب ليفي بحاجة التنظير ذي المرجعية الفقهية الأصولية، فحيث أن موضوعات التنظير اجتماعية إنسانية، فهي بالضرورة محل اشتراك بين الدين كمرجعية للنظام الاجتماعي والإنساني من جهة، وبين التنظير الغربي إذا عالج نفس الموضوعات من جهة ثانية؛ لذا كان علينا الاستماع إلى الغربيين وإدراج مقولاتهم بغية التحاور النقدي ولو من جهتنا فقط، وحيث أن مرجعيات التنظير الأصولي الفقهي تنتصر للحكمة الدينية المتأصلة في ثقافتنا بأدلتها، فلا ريب أن تعتمد كمصدر ارتكاز أول يؤازره معطيات الواقع الاجتماعي والإنساني حيثما يجري التنظير ويطبق. وبذلك يكون الدين مرجعًا أساسيًا للتنظير أكثر من أن يكون تطبيق من تطبيقات التنظير، كما هو الحال في علم الاجتماع الديني. ولما كانت آليات التحليل العقلية والرياضية عالمية لا تختص بفكر دون آخر، فلا مشاحة في الاستفادة منها، وخاصة إذا كانت ذات قيمة تحليلية عالية. وتبدو النتيجة وكأنها أسلمة على الحقيقة، وإن كان الأمر كذلك فإنها أسلمة وظيفية عملية دعت إليها الواقعية الأصولية الفقهية والمنطقية الدينية، لا أسلمة شكلية استثارتها الشوفونية الوجدانية، ولا ادعاءًا بحاجات الروح التي نكصت عن الوفاء بها المنهجية الغربية.
