قام الكيان الإسرائيلي في الفترة 7/7-26/8/2014 بأحد أشرس اعتداءاته على الشعب الفلسطيني منذ حرب 1948، بينما قدمت المقاومة الفلسطينية في قطاع غزة (الذي تعرض للعدوان)، أحد أبرز وأرقى نماذج الصمود والبطولة في مواجهة القوات الإسرائيلية، فأفشلت هجومها وكسرت هيبتها، ورفعت ميزان الردع، وعرّضت المجتمع الصهيوني في كل فلسطين المحتلة لضربات صواريخ المقاومة.
غير أن ما زاد في خطورة هذا العدوان ونتائجه، ما تشهده البيئة الإقليمية من اضطرابات خطيرة وتحولات لم تتضح معالمها بعد، خاصة إثر سيطرة الجيش على الحكم في مصر 3/7/2013 وإيقاف عجلة التحول الديموقراطي فيها، وانعكاس ذلك على علاقة مصر مع حماس وقطاع غزة بطبيعة الحال.
كذلك لم يكن المشهد الدولي أحسن حالاً تجاه القضية الفلسطينية؛ حيث الانشغال الأكبر للمجتمع الدولي منصب في متابعة "الربيع العربي" والتأثير في مخرجاته. انطلاقاً من أهمية الموضوع اختارت هيئة التحرير في مركز الزيتونة إصدار ملف معلومات يتناول أحداث العدوان الإسرائيلي على غزة، وتبعاته وانعكاساته على القضية الفلسطينية، وما رافقه من مواقف عربية وإسلامية ودولية.
