يقدم هذا الكتاب في الواقع خريطة معرفية للفكر العربي في نهاية القرن العشرين، وهو بمحاضراته ومداخلاته يعكس بشكل رائع التعددية الثقافية العربية، التي تعبر عنها مجموعة من المفكرين العرب البارزين، الذين كانت لهم هذه الحوارات في منتدى عبد الحميد شومان الثقافي ضمن برنامج "حوار الشهر" خلال العامين 1997 و1998 وهؤلاء المفكرون هم مبدعون عرب أغنوا الحياة الفكرية المعاصرة بمشروعاتهم الثقافية والنهضوية والأدبية والاجتماعية.
