شهدت السنوات الأخيرة انتشارًا واسعًا، واقبالًا على الألعاب بمختلف أنواعها ولاسيما الألعاب الرقمية والتقنيات الالكترونية من الأطفال في سِّن ما قبل المدرسة، واخذت تشكل اداتهم الاساسية التي يتفاعلون معها، ويقضون أمتع الأوقات فيها، وانتقل بسببها اللعب عندهم من مرحلة اللعب البدنّي الى مرحلة اللعب العقليّ. ولهذه المرحلة أثر بالغ في رسم الحياة التعليمية المستقبلية للأطفال إذما استُثمرت بطريقة ايجابية عند التحاقهم في المدارس ورياض الأطفال، لكننا نجدهم يتفاجؤون عند دخولهم إلى المدرسة بطبيعة الأساليب التقليدية المعتمدة في التدريس، وانعدام الإثارة والمنافسة والتشويق داخل غرفة الصف، وانتقالهم إلى متلقين فقط، بعد أن كانوا هم المتحكمون في إدارة انشطتهم ولعبهم داخل المنزل. ولعل كثير من المعلمين لا يدركون ما يمثله اللعب من اهمية في بناء شخصية الطفل، بل ينكرون اللعب عليهم، ويعدّونه مضيعةللوقت،واختيارًا للقيمةالأدنىمنبدائلالأعمالالمتاحةللطفل،وتظهرهذهالدونيةلهذاالنشاطعندمايقابلوناللعب بالمبالغةفي المذاكرة،أوالقراءة،أوكثرة الواجبات على حساب الأنشطة الأخرى التي تتضمنن المتعة والتسلية في اثناء الحصة الدراسية.
