شكلت السنوات الخمس الأخيرة منعطفاً هاماً في تاريخ السلفية المصرية نتيجة ظهور الفضائيات الدينية والحضور المكثف لمشايخ التيار السلفي فيها بعدما ظلت السلفية لعقود أسيرة لخطاب دعوي ضيق المحيط والتأثير لا يتعدى محيط المساجد التابعة لجمعية أنصار السنّة المحمدية والجمعية الشرعية والتي غالباً ما يكون روداها من السفليين أنفسهم.
وعقب سقوط نظام الرئيس السابق حسني مبارك أثارت مواقف السلفيين المتباينة من الثورة المصرية الكثير من الجدل الذي تستحق معه المزيد من التأمل والدراسة، سيما مع التحول المفاجئ والسريع لأطيافها الأساسية بعدما كان الرفض والإنعزال هو سيد الموقف لأسباب كثيرة.
فلم يكن للسلفيين يد قوية في إنجاح الثورة أو المساهمة الفاعلة فيها بل كان التثبيط هي الحالة الأبرز بين كافة تياراتهم لكن عقب سقوط النظام لم يواصل السلفيون بكافة فصائلهم خمولهم فرأينا نشاطاً ملحوظاً ومحاولة فاعلة للإستفادة من كل كبيرة وصغيرة في ظل إنهيار جهاز أمن الدولة والذي طالما عانوا من ممارساته القمعية لعقود، فسعى السلفيون إلى تجاوز هذا الموضوع سريعاً والتعاطي مع المتغيرات وهو الأمر الذي جعل الحالة السلفية في مصر تحت الأضواء والنيران أكثر من أي وقت مضى.
في هذا الكتاب يحاول مجموعة من الباحثين المهتمين بالحالة الإسلامية دراسة الحالة السلفية في مصر في ضوء الثورة ومتغيراتها من جوانب مختلفة تهدف إلى إستقراء الحقيقة وتجاوز الأيدولوجيات للخروج بالصورة الأقرب إلى الواقع بحيادية.
