يعتبر كتاب المنار في أصول الفقه الحنفي من أهم الكتب المختصرة النافعة في هذا العلم، حيث حوى أهم مسائل علم "أصول الفقه" في أسلوب سهل واضح، مع اختيار أرجح الأقوال في كل مسألة وانتقاء أرجح الأدلة، مع الإشارة إلى غيرها، في أسلوب سهل وعبارة دقيقة. ولذلك أقبل عليه العلماء إقبالاً منقطع النظير، فمنهم من شرحه شرحاً مطولاً، ومنهم من شرحه شرحاً موجزاً، ومنهم من وضع عليه الحواشي والتعليقات، كما أن منهم من قام باختصاره نظماً كالكتاب الذي معنا، والذي يعتبر-على صغر حجمه-ثروة علمية عظيمة لا يستهان بها، يظهر ذلك في خلال المميزات التالية: الاختصار الوافي، غير المخل، حيث جمع المؤلف "الشيخ طه بن قاسم الكوراني" فيه شتات علم الأصول وأهم مسائله في عدد قليل من الأبيات، ثم قام بشرحها شرحاً موجزاً أيضاً. 2-من مميزات هذا الكتاب-أيضاً الدقة في اختيار العبارة السليمة التي تؤدي المعنى من أقرب الطرق مع الإعراض عن الاعتراضات التي ملئت بها كتب الأصول، 3-ولما كان القصد من هذا الكتاب الاختصار، التزم المؤلف بهذا المنهج، ولم يحد عنه وهو الأسلوب العلمي الصحيح، لكنه حينما-يجد نفسه مضطراً إلى توفية الموضوع حقه يحيل القارئ إلى المطولات.
ونظراً لأهمية هذا الكتاب ولمكانة مؤلفه عني الدكتور شعبان محمد إسماعيل بتحقيق النسخة التي بين يديه وهدفه تفسير ما غمض من معانيه، وما قد يصعب على القارئ فهمه ولتحقيق ذلك اعتنى بما يلي: أولاً: تنسيق الكتاب تنسيقاً علمياً، حسب أبوابه وفصوله التي وضعها المؤلف، مضيفاً إليه بعض العناوين التي أغفلها المصنف لزيادة التوضيح. ثانياً: تخريج شواهد الكتاب من القرآن والسنة، والآثار المختلفة، بالرجوع إلى القرآن الكريم، وكتب السنة، وسائر المصادر المختلفة. ثالثاً: تصحيح الألفاظ التي تخالف قواعد الإملاء الحديثة، بما يوافق الاصطلاحات الحديثة، تيسيراً على القارئ، حتى يكثر النفع بهذا الكتاب. رابعاً: التعريف بالأعلام والكتب التي ترد في الكتاب بالقدر الذي يتفق وأسلوب التحقيق. خامساً: أحال بعض المسائل المهمة التي تحتاج إلى المزيد من الشرح والتوضيح إلى المراجع المبسوطة التي استوفت الحديث عنها، سادساً: توضيح الكلمات الغريبة لغوياً، والإشارة إلى معانيها، بالرجوع إلى كتب اللغة والمعاجم العربية.
