نقرأ في هذا الكتاب ثلاث من "الرسائل السنية" يقدمها "كمال يوسف الحوت" بما تحتويه من فائدة وأهمية لعموم المسلمين. الرسالة الأولى للشيخ "عبد الرحمن الحوت" وموضوعها "الحث على أداء الصلوات والزجر عن تركها". الرسالة الثانية: للمؤلف السابق وموضوعها "إرشاد العوالم إلى سبيل السلام وموضوعها" النهي عن المحرمات". أما الرسالة الثالثة فهي للسيد "أبي عبد الله محمد بن السيد درويش الحوت البيروتي" ويبوضوعها وموضوعها "رسالة في حساب الكسر مع الصحيح". ويبدأ المؤلف كتابه بالتعريف بالشيخ عبد الرحمن الحوت: هو العلاقة أبو زيد عبد الرحمن بن الشيخ محمد بن السيد درويش الحوت البيروتي الشافعي العلوي.. ولد في بيروت سنة 1846م وتوفي سنة 1916م.
وفي الرسالة الأولة يبين الشيخ عبد الرحمن حكم تارك الصلاة وما ورد من أحاديث صريحة بحقه، فيعرض للقارئ رأي الحنابلة، والشافعية. وجمهور العلماء في هذا الموضوع، ومن ثم يعرج على موضوع الوضوء والاستنجاء والغسل... الخ. ويختتمها بسنن الصلاة...
أما الرسالة الثانية فتتضمن تبين عقوية من أكل أموال الناس بالباطل والزور والبهتان وما يرتكبه الناس من ذنوب نتيجة لسماع آلات الطرب واللعب بالملاهي والمسابقة على الخيل على وجه غير مشروع وفيه أبوب: منها "باب الربا"، "باب البيع"، "باب في السماع"، "فصل في سماع القينات أي المغنيات"، إلى آخر ذلك من نواهي حرمها الإسلام.
أما الرسالة الثالثة والأخيرة لمؤلفها "أبي عبد الله محمد بن السيد درويش الحوت، فهي بحث في علم الرياضيات ويستند فيها إلى قاعدة يقول فيها "اعلم انه إذا كان مع العدد الصحيح كسر، وأردت قسمة ذلك على عدد آخر، فينبغي أن تبسط الصحيح من خبش ذلك الكسر ثم تضم الكسر إلى ماتحصل من الصحيح، فحينئذ بقسم ما جمع من ذلك، ويدَعمها بأمثلة وإجابات صحيحة...
