جحا وأشعب أشهر شخصيتين وردت عنهما نوادر في التراث العربي.. أشعب بن جبير وأسمه أشعث فقال الناس أشعب، فمرت عليه ويكني أبا العلاء، قال الحافظ أبو الفرج ابن الجوزي في " المنتظم" : ولد أشعب سنة تسع من الهجرة ، وكان أشعب خال الأصمعي.
أما جحا فاسمه " دجين أبي الغصن بن ثابت الفزاري البصرى ، "يرجع انه عاش خلال الفترة من عام 6 هجرية وحتى 61 هجرية.
وشخصية جحا اختلف في حقيقتها فبعضهم ينسبها إلى خيال العربي والبعض الآخر يقول إنها حقيقة.
ولكن الحقيقى الذي لا خلاف عليه أنه بين أيدينا مجموعة من طرائف التراث لأظرف ظرفاء العرب، وسواء كلها حدثت ام لم تحدث فهى مواقف باسمه وضاحكة ومقهقهة و (مسخسخة) أحيانا.
