ألف علماؤنا السابقون في علم المنطق الكثير من الكتب، ما بين مختصر ومطوّل، وقيّدوا عليها الحواشي والشروح، ومن المتون الشهير لهذا العلم كتاب إيساغوجي الذي رصّع كلماته الإمام الشهير أثير الدين الأبهري صاحب التأليفات الواسعة في علوم الكلام والفلسفة والمنطق وغيرها.
ومتن إيساغوجي وإن كان متناً مختصراً إلا أنه لُحسْنه اهتم به العلماء وشرحه غير واحد من الفحول كالشريف الجرجاني، وشيخ الإسلام زكريا الأنصاري، والعلاّمة الفناري، وغيرها كثير.
أما من كتب عليه حواشي وتقييدات مفيدة فأكثر من أن يُحصروا، وإننا نفخر إذ نقدّم اليوم لطلاّب العلم شرحاً من الشروح الرصينة الدقيقة لهذا المتن، وهو شرح العلاّمة حسام الدين الكاتي، المتوفى سنة 760هـ.
وقد اشتهر هذا الشرح في بلاد العراق وكردستان وتركيا والهند والأفغان ونحوها من البلدان، ولم يعرفه كثير من أهل المشرق والمغرب، فأحببنا أن نقوم بخدمته وتحقيقه على بعض نسخه الخطية، ونصحّح عباراته على قدر الوسع والطاقة.
