هذا كتاب ضخم يضمّ بين طياته تاريخ أفلام السينما الروائية في مصر والعالم العربي منذ بدايتها عام 1923 وحتى نهايتها عام 2001، حيث يحتوي على تأريخ لأسماء الأفلام، وسرد لجميع المشاركين فيه من ممثلين وعاملين، ومنتجين، ومصورين وكتاب، هذا بالإضافة إلى نبذة مختصرة عن موضوع الفيلم، ولتسهيل عملية البحث فيه من قبل القارئ تمّ ترتيب الأفلام فيه بحسب تواريخ عرضها، على أن يكون هناك مفتاح لسهولة التعرف على مكان أي فيلم وسط تلك الخريطة، وذلك في محاولة للجمع بين التتابع التاريخي، والتقسيم الهجائي. كما وضمّ الكتاب مجموعة من الصور الفوتوغرافية عن الأفلام، باعتبار أن السينما صورة في المقام الأول، ومع تقديم دليلا إضافي عن الفيلم العربي، حيث لا يمكن التعامل مع الفيلم المصري ككائن وحيد منفصل عن السينما من حوله، خاصة في كل من سوريا ولبنان والجزائر...
