إن حوار هيدغر مع التيولوجيا كما يرى كابيل لم يكن موضوعة عابرة أو إشكالاً ظرفياً أملته إعتبارات تاريخية مخصوصة، بل هو حوار مؤسس لفكر هيدغر، وبهذه المثابة ينبغي أن تفهم العلاقة المرتبكة لهيدغر بالكاثوليكية ووقع الإنفصال المؤلم عن نسقها، وحواراته مع أقطاب البروتستانتية حينها وقربه منها، وكيف اهتدى - وهو في جوّ البروتستانتية - إلى النأي بالتيولوجيا عن كل إعتبار مفهومي، وحصر صفة الكتاب المقدس في العهد الجديد، كما يتبدى إختزاله غير المبرر في رسائل القديس بولس، على ما في قراءاته لهذه الرسائل من المطاعن والقوادح.
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يغطي فكر هيدغر، ويشرح نصوصه، ولا سيما النصوص التي بين سنتي (1923 و 1938)، وقناعاته الفكرية وإشراطه فعل التفلسف بممارسة سؤال ا للماذائية الأعظم، "لمَ كان الوجود وليس بالأحرى العدم؟"، ولماذا يفتتح سفر التكوين بقوله "في البدء خلق الله السموات والأرض؟" وغيرها من أسئلة حول حقائق التنزيل المطلقة.
لهذا تأتي هذه الترجمة عوناً للباحث العربي المهتم بالشأن الهيدغري، من دون تحميل النص فهوم وتأويلات بعيدة، ولأجل هذا غلب على هذا الكتاب الأكاديمي العناية بنصوص هيدغر ذاتها وشرحها، وعرض إشكالياتها ولا سيما تحوله إلى هرمينوطيقا "الحياة الحديثة" وقراءته للتجربة المسيحية.
