انعقد في مصر في أبريل 25-27 من 1991م مؤتمر حول أحداث الخليج والدروس المستفادة منها ووجهت الدعوة من وزارة الأوقاف ورئاسة المجلس الأعلى للشؤون الإسلامية في جمهورية مصر، إلى سماحة الشيخ أبي الحسن علي الحسني الندوي للإسهام فيه والإفادة بدراساته وآرائه وتوجيهاته، فانتهز سماحته هذه الفرصة فكتب هذا المقال الذي يحتوي هذا الكتاب ضمن نصه والذي يذكر فيه مصر، دورها التاريخي في نصر الأمة الإسلامية، وناشدها أن تخرج من مصادرها المفروض عليها، وتقود العالم الإسلامي، كما قادت في الماضي، واستعرض سماحته الظروف وعواقبها، واكتشف الثغرات والفجوات في الكيان الإسلامي، وقام بتعيينها، وشرح طرق معالجتها في خلفية الأحداث التي مرّ بها العالم الإسلامي كله، فإن العالم العربي قلب للعالم الإسلامي، ولا يحلو العيش إذا كان القلب متألماً، فكيف يستقر العالم الإسلامي إذا كان العالم العربي وفيه الحرمان الشريفان، والقبلة الأولى، مضطرباً، فليست مشكلة أي بلد عربي، مشكلة عربية صرفة، وإنما هي مشكلة إسلامية ومشكلة عالمية وحيث أن صلة المسلمين بالعالم العربي صلة شعورية وقلبية فالقضية تصبح قضية شعورية وقلبية يضطرب بها كل مسلم فيه أضعف الإيمان. فإذا كان شعور المسلم العادي قد اضطرب بالأحداث المؤلمة. فكيف يكون شعور داعية أحب العرب واعتبر نفسه واحداً منهم، ودرس قضاياهم وعرفهم عن كثب، وهو يعرف نتائج الأعمال وطبيعة التاريخ، وله نظرة على تاريخ الأمم والحضارات وله معرفة دقيقة بالواقع المؤلم. لقد هزت الأحداث الأخيرة الكيان الإسلامي كله، وأثرت على كلم جال من مجالات العمل الإسلامي، وحملت على التفكير، والبحث عن أسباب الكارثة، ويفيد هذا البحث في تعيين الثغرات وتحليل الأسباب الحقيقية، وترشيد قوة جديدة لحمل القيادة لإعادة البناء بسد هذه الثغرات بأسلوب علمي تحليلي من جانب، وأدبي مؤثر من جانب آخر.
