مسألة الإبداع والمقدّس هي محور معظم محاضرات الشاعرة أميرة الزين في التصوّف والأدب المقارن في جامعة جورج تاون وغيرها من الجامعات الأمريكيّة.
رحلة طويلة مع الإبداع والمقدّس عاشتها في كتابتها وشعرها، وجسّدتها في هذا الكتاب عبر محطّتين، تجلت الأولى في قراءة جديدة ومبتكرة للتناصّ بين "الطبيعيّات" و"الإلهيّات"، على ضوء قناعتها بأنّ الخلق والإبداع توأمان من أمّ واحدة، وفيها كشفت كيف طوّر المتصوّفة الرؤياويّون نظرة عرفانيّة للوجود، وصاغوا نظريّة جامعة للإبداع حرّرتهم من عبوديّة الحرف وجماليّات الجُمل.
أمّا في المحطة الثانية فنرى كيف تجلّت توأمة الخلق والإبداع في تصوّفنا الإسلاميّ ومعظم ثقافاتنا الإنسانية، وكيف تعانق إبداع "الطبيعيّات" و"الإلهيّات" أمام مرآة الإستعارة، فالقول بأنّ "العالم قصيدة كتبها الله" قديم قدم الشعر، لكنّنا هنا نكتشف كيف أعيدت صياغتها على مرّ العصور بأشكال مختلفة، وكيف قرئت في معظم لغاتنا الإنسانيّة.
والكتاب بحث علميّ موثّق يضمّ ثروة من المقارنات العميقة بين أصول الإبداع والمقدّس في ثقافاتنا الإنسانيّة، ففيما يدعو ابن عربي الله، مثلاً، "حضرة الإبداع"، يقول نيوتن "إنّ الطبيعة مكتوبة بلغة الألوهة البصريّة"، ومن هذه النظرة المعمّقة لأصول "الإلهيّات" و"الطبيعيّات" تقدّم أميرة الزين تفسيراً جديداً مبتكراً للتجربة الصوفيّة وطبيعة الفناء الصوفيّ إنطلاقاً من فلسفة "العالم الإفتراضيّ" وعلى ضوء مستجدّات فيزيائنا الحديثة ونظريّاتها الكونيّة حول "الزمان المتخيّل".
