في ضوء الاهتمامات المتعاظمة بالتعليم الالكترونى في مصر، وتوجه وزارة التربية والتعليم للتوسع فيه خلال المرحلة المقبلة شكل المركز القومى للبحوث التربوية والتنمية فريقاً من باحثية لتقييم التجربة الوليدة التى بدأت عام 2002 بإنشاء عدد قليل من المدارس الالكترونية أطلق علهيا مسمى " المدراس الذكية" شاركت في إقامتها وزارة التربية والتعليم بالتعاون مع وزارة التكنولوجيا والاتصالات، وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمانى UNDP . ويتوالى تخريج الدفعات الأولى من تلاميذ هذه المدارس برزت الحاجة إلى تقييم واقعها وما يعتورها من سلبيات، وما تواجهة من صعوبات.
