كان المُفكِّر الكويتي د. أحمد البغدادي (1951 -2010) من المُدافعين عن العَقْلانيَّة النَّقدِيَّة الحُرَّة باعتبارها جزءاً لا يَنفَصِل عن تاريخ الوَعْي، ومَفاهيم حُقوق الإنسان، وقِيَم الحَداثة. فقد ذَبّ عنها من وجهةِ نَظَرِ الْتِزامه بالدِّفاع عن حُرية وكرامَة وحُقوق الأفراد كافة. كما عبّر عن رَفْضِه واشْمِئزازه ومُقاومته لجميع أشكال العُنف والتَّعَصُّب – لاسيما الديني – وضِيق الأُفُق، وحَجَرْ الخَوْف الوَهْمي على العُقول.
لقد جاهَر/رفعَ د. البغدادي لواء "التَّنوير" والحَداثة والعقلانية والتَّفْكيك والنَّقد الحُر في الكويت وحوض الخليج، ليس بحُكْمِ قُوَّة السلاح والوَعيد، أو التَّلاعُب في ذِهْن السلطة السياسية وعلامَاتها، أو إدِّعَاء اسْتِمْلاك الرَّمز والاستعارة والأُسطورة، أو حتى مُسايَرَة رَكْب "التيار الديني" الرائج.. ولكن، فقط، بسُلطته "الابْستيميّة"، وقُوّة أفكاره ومواقفه، جُرأته النقديَّة واستِقلاليته من ناحية، وتأثيره المعنويّ والأخلاقيّ والمَنَاقِبيّ من ناحية أخرى. وهو ما غَنِمَه عبر مَحَامِده الشَّخصية، ومُراعاتِه للناس، وتَحالُفه مع الفلسفة/العِلم، وشَغَفه بالمعرفة.
