يذهب الباحث عبد الرحمن عبد الغني إلى طرح رؤية في أن الإفرازات والإسقاطات السياسية لظهور النازية في ألمانيا، واحتدام أزمة الحكم في أوروبا في الثلاثينات، على تطور فلسطين السياسي بدأت سنة 1933، أي منذ تسلم النازيين على السلطة، وانتهت بهزيمة الحكم النازي سنة 1933، أي منذ تسلم النازيين السلطة، وانتهت بهزيمة الحكم النازي سنة 1945 بصورة مباشرة، كما أنها أخذت شكلها النهائي في فترة 1947-1948 بإقامة دولة إسرائيل، أما آثارها السياسية فما زالت قائمة إلى الآن. يحاول المؤلف رصد هذه الإفرازات على ضوء دراسة تاريخية لتأثير الصراع داخل وبين مراكز القوى العالمية في هوامش عالمنا المعاصر. وهذا واضح في التطورات السياسية في فلسطين في الثلاثينات والأربعينات التي تقدم مثلاً بكل معنى الكلمة في هذا المجال. إلى جانب ذلك فإن موضوع بحثه هنا هو مجرى هذا التأثير، وأي شكل أخذه، ونتائجه التاريخية في الهوامش، أي في فلسطين.
هذا الكتاب وصف تفصيلي لسياسة ألمانيا النازية تجاه اليهود الأوروبيين وتأثيرها في مصير فلسطين، ولا سيما في قرار الأمم المتحدة بتقسيم فلسطين سنة 1947. يصف المؤلف كيف استغلت الحركة الصهيونية معاملة النازيين لليهود خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية من أجل كسب تعاطف العالم مع سياستها لإنشاء دولة يهودية في فلسطين، وجذب المزيد من المهاجرين اليهود إلى فلسطين. والسؤال الأهم الذي يعالجه الكتاب هو: هل استفادت الحركة الوطنية الفلسطينية من الحرب؟ كما يناقش الكتاب طبيعة العلاقة بين الحاج أمين الحسيني والنازيين. وقد استعان الكاتب بالأراشيف التاريخية في بون وواشنطن ولندن والقدس بغية تأليف الكتاب.
