وقد جاءت عملية تصميم التعليم كعملية مخططة منظمة محكومة بأهداف ومستندة إلى أسس نظرية نموذجية نماذج التعليم المستندة إلى نظرية التعلم تهدف إلى إعتبار مكونات منظومة التعليم وخصائص الطلبة والمدرسين والمحتوى التعليمي وفق منظومة متفاعلة لتحقيق التطور والتكامل في العملية التعليمية.
إن التصميم التعليمي علم يهدف إلى توضيح دور المعلم الفاعل في تنفيذ أهداف التربية مستنداً إلى نظرية في التعلم واضحة ومحددة وضعت في إعتبارها متغيرات التعليم من حيث خصائص التعلم وعمليات التدريس وخصائص المحتوى التعليمي وتنظيمه لتحقيق أهداف العملية التعليمية.
إن التصميم التعليمي علم نظري وعملي يهدف إلى تأسيس قاعدة علم التعليم ضمن شروط مضبوطة ومقصودة بعيدة عن العشوائية والإرتجال.
لذا جاء هذا الكتاب التصميم التعليمي النظرية والتطبيق موضحاً لعملية التصميم التعليمي مع الربط بين الجانب النظري والجانب العملي التطبيقي.
وما هذا الكتاب إلا محاولة علمية جادة لإضافة لبنة جديدة تضاف إلى ما قدمه الآخرون في هذا المجال من علوم ومعارف وخبرات وأنشطة وتطبيقات عملية لغرض النهوض بالعملية التعليمية في عراقنا الحبيب.
