أحاول في هذه الدراسة التأكيد على ما للرواية خاصة، والجنس الأدبي عامة، من قدرة على استكشاف آفاق بعيدة ومجهولة في حياتنا، ورغبة جامحة في تجاوز اللحظة الراهنة، واستشراف للمستقبل، إن هذا ما استشعرته في بعض الروايات التي نشرت قبل ثورة 25 يناير 2011، لذلك حاولت أن أشارك الرواية في مغامرة الكشف، فاخترت مجموعة من الروايات التي نشرت جميعًا قبل الثورة، وعددها عشرون رواية كعينات تغطي مساحات زمنية للعقود الثلاثة الأخيرة في الألفية الثانية، وفي هذه الروايات أحاول التماس الدليل على ما افترضته منأن ثمة استشراقًا للثورة في نصوصها السردية مضمونًا فكريًا وشكلًا فنيًا.
وإضافة إلى العشرين رواية مجال الدراسة التطبيقية، فقد أحلت بمجموعة أخرى من الروايات ذات الصلة بموضوع دراستنا، فقد حاولت الدراسة الإجابة عن سؤالها، كيف كات شكل الاستشراف موضوعيًا، وما هي الأدوات الفنية التي اعتمد عليها القاص في رحلة استشرافه؟ من خلال المباحث الآتية: الجدل النظري حول نظرية الاستشراف في الرواية وعلاقتها بالزمن - درجات الاستشراف لدى أجيال متعاقبة من الروائيين - أشكال الاستشراف المضمونية - أدوات الاستشراف الفنية.
