قال الإمام ابن القيم رحمه الله تعالى: لقد مرّ بي وقت في مكة سقمت فيه، ولا أجد طبيباً ولا دواءً فكنت أعالج نفسي بالفاتحة، فأرى لها تأثيراً عجيباً، آخذ شربه من ماء زمزم وأقرؤها عليها مراراً ثم أشربه فوجدت بذلك البرء التام، ثم صرت أعتمد ذلك عند كثير من الأوجاع فانتفع به غاية الانتفاع، فكنت أصف ذلك لمن يشتكي ألماً فكان كثير منهم يبرأ سريعاً".
وكذلك العلاج بالرقي النبوية الثابتة من أنفع الأدوية، والدعاء إذا سلم من الموانع من أنفع الأسباب في دفع المكروه وحصول المطلوب، فهو من أنفع الأدوية، وخاصة مع الإلحاح فيه، وهو عدو البلاء، يدافعه ويعالجه، ويمنع نزوله، أو يخففه إذا نزل، "الدعاء ينفع مما نزل ومما ينزل فعليكم عباد الله بالدعاء" "لا يرد القضاء إلا الدعاء ولا يزيد في العمر إلا البر" ولكن ها هنا أمر ينبغي التفطن له: وهو أن الآيات، والأذكار، والدعوات، والتعوذات التي يستشفى بها ويرقى بها هي في نفسها نافعة شافية، ولكن تستدعي قبول وقوة الفاعل وتأثيره فمتى تخلف الشفاء كان لضعف تأثير الفاعل، أو لعدم قبول المنفعل، أو لمانع قوي فيه يمنع أن ينجح فيه الدواء.
فإن العلاج بالرقي يكون بأمرين: أمر من جهة المريض، وأمر من جهة المعالج، فالذي من جهة المريض يكون بقوة نفسه وصدق توجهه إلى الله تعالى، واعتقاده الجازم بأن القرآن شفاء ورحمة للمؤمنين. الأمر الثاني من جهة المعالج بالقرآن والسنة أن يكون فيه هذان الأمران أيضاً.
وبين طيات هذا الكتاب ذكر للآيات القرآنية والأذكار الشرعية التي من خلالها يمكن العلاج من السحر والعين والهم والحزن والقلق والحمى والتباس الجني بالأسنى... كما وفيه ذكر لفوائد الحبة السوداء في هذا المضمار والعسل وماء زمزم...
