من أهم مصادر العصر الفاطمي التي وصلت إلينا، مؤلفات على بن منجب ابن سليمان المعروف بابن الصيرفي رئيس ديوان الإنشاء الفاطمي في عهدى الخليفة الآمر بأحكام الله والخليفة الحافظ لدين الله الفاطميين. وترجع أهمية هذا المؤلف إلى أنه عاش في بلاط الخلفاء وكتب أغلب السجلات، التي وصلت إلينا، وصدرت في العقود الأولى للقرن السادس الهجري/ الثاني عشر الميلادي، وتحوى النشرة التي بين يديك الآن، كتابان من أهم مؤلفات ابن الصيرفي سبق نشرهما في أوائل هذا القرن. أحدهما، وهو "القانون في ديوان الرسائل" طبع بالقاهرة في سنة 1905 بعناية الأثري الراحل علي بك بهجت، وهو قليل الوجود حتى في المكتبات العامة. ويتناول موضوعاً هاماً، هو الشروط التي يجب أن تتوفر فيمن يتولى ديوان الرسائل ومن يجب أن يكون تلوه في منزلة من المستخدمين ومعاونيهم، والآخر هو "الإشارة إلى من نال الوزارة" ذكر فيه وزراء الفاطميين من ابن كلس وحتى المأمون ابن البطائحي الذي أهدى له الكتاب.
