يتناول الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا لمؤلفته الدكتور سهير "محمود أمين" موضوع اللجلجة تناولاً متكاملاً شاملاً حيث تعرض فيه لجوانب الموضوع النظرية والتطبيقية العلاجية، فتقدم المؤلفة في الفصل الأول تعريفاً باضطرابات النصف النطق والكلام لدى الأطفال وأهم أنواعها، كما تعرض في الفصل الثاني في الكتاب مفهوم اللجلجة ومظاهرها، وتفسيرها تبعاً لتعدد وجهات النظر بشأن العوامل المسببة لها، وهي العوامل الوراثية والبيوكيميائية، والنفسية والنيوفسيولوجية، والبيئة والاجتماعية.
وتستعرض المؤلفة في الفصل الثالث عدداً من أساليب برامج علاج اللجلجة التي استخدمت في بعض البلدان الأجنبية، ثم تقدم في الفصل الرابع وصفاً شاملاً لبعض البرامج العلاجية التي قامت المؤلفة بتجريبها على مجموعة من الأطفال المصريين وتحققت من فاعليتها، ثم اختتمت هذا لفصل باقتراح برنامج إرشادي للآباء بفرض تبصيرهم بأسلوب معاملة الطفل المصاب باللجلجة، وكيفية التخفيف من مصادر الضغوط الانفعالية التي يتعرض لها.
