ـ ولد بقابس سنة 1947 ـ زاول تعليمه الابتدائي والثانوي بمسقط رأسه ـ تحصل على الإجازة في اللغة والأداب العربية سنة 1970 وعلى شهادة الكفاءة في البحث سنة 1972، وشهادة التعمق في البحث سنة 1983، ودكتوراه الدولة من نفس الكلية.
ـ درس بالمعاهد الثانوية وبالجامعة ـ نظم الشعر وكتب المقال النقدي والدراسة الأدبية، والقصة القصيرة والرواية.
ـ عضو اتحاد الكتاب التونسيين من بداية الثمانينات.

عندما ننظر الآن في النصوص الإبداعية التي تصدر في شتى الأقطار العربية، ندرك أهمية حركتين إبداعيتين، حركة بلغت أوجها وهي حركة التجريب الروائي بنصوصه المختلفة، وحركة ناشئة ولكنها تبهر بنصوصها التي تستقطب قراء لم تستطع حركة التجريب أن تستقطبهم، ولكنها حركة تواجه التجريب الروائي بمروق على مقولاته، ورفض لمستنداته الجماليّة، إنها لحظة تحول مفصليّة في مسيرة الرواية العربيّة المعاصرة، وهي التي سيحاول هذا العمل استجلاء تجلياتها والوقوف عند خصائصها والإشكاليات التي تطرحها.
