العلاقة بين الآباء والأبناء وبالأخص (البنات) وما يمكن أن يترتب عليها من نتائج ومضاعفات، وتأثير المكان والفضاء الإجتماعي في نجاح التربية الأسرية أو فشلها هو ما تدور حوله رواية "بنات على خط النار" للكاتب المصري محمد منصور الجوهري.
وفي هذه الرواية، يروي الكاتب الجوهري، بواسطة راوٍ عليم واحد، حكايات عدد من البنات مع أسرهن، هي حكايات تتشابه في التفاصيل، والأماكن، والظروف، ولكن لكل شخصية منهن حكايتها المختلفة مع أهلها عن الأخرى، فالعلاقة بين الأم سندس ورباب الإبنة يسودها الكثير من التوتر وعدم التفاهم، فالأم تتسم بالجديّة الصارمة، والبنت لا يشغلها سوى جمالها، بينما العلاقة بين نسرين الأم وابنتها نجلاء في الحكاية الثانية فيسودها التفاهم والحب والإحترام المتبادلين.
أما مهجة وأختها ثريا فتعيشان حياة هانئة مع والديهما اللذان لا يرفضان لهما طلب ويغمرانهما بالحب فنشأتا تنشئة إجتماعية جيدة حتى أن كلتاهما لم تتردان في الدفاع عن أنفسهما وأخاهم الصغير بوجود الشرطة "حاول بعض الشباب مغازلة "مهجة" و"ثريا" والتحرش بهما إلا أن الشرطة وقفت لهؤلاء الشباب حائلاً دون إستكمال معاكستهن بتنويه من صرخات "حيان" وبمنظر خلع "مهجة" و"ثريا" لأحذيتهم محاولات ضرب الشباب بها".
وهذه الحكاية وغيرها من الحكايات في هذا العمل يقدمها محمد منصور الجوهري بخطاب روائي يعكس خبرة كبيرة في السرد وترتيب الأحداث والشخصيات من دون أن يتبعد عن روح الثيمة الأساسية في النص وهي (التربية الأسرية)، فينسج خيوطاً وعلاقات روائية يجد القارئ نفسه منجذباً إلى متابعتها واحدة تلو الأخرى، وخاصة أنه استخدم المحكية المصرية بالإضافة إلى الفصحى ما يمنح اللغة بعداً ووظيفة روائية إضافة إلى كونها وسيلة التعبير وحاملة الحكاية ومشكّلة الخطاب...
