بدأت في أوائل الخمسينات حركة شاملة لترجمة المصطلحات الفنية والعملية إلى اللغة العربية، إلا أن المصطلحات السياسية لم تلق مثل هذا الإهتمام، ولم يحدد أحد أسباب ذلك.
إلا أنه يمكن القول إن أواخر الستينات والسبعينات من القرن العشرين شهدت علامة مضيئة هامة على طريق تطور اللغة العربية إلى لغة دولية نتيجة إدخالها في المحافل الدولية، وهذا ما شجع العديد من الكتاب والباحثين والمترجمين للغور في سبر السياسة، وإجراء دراسات مختلفة في هذا العلم، كل حسب النهج الذي ابتغاه.
إلا إن هؤلاء الكتاب والباحثين والمترجمين جوبهوا بصعوبة للكتابة في فروع هذا العلم ومصطلحاته المتشعبة، والمستجدة على الساحة بسبب ظهور العديد من الحركات والمذاهب السياسية.
لذلك يسعى المؤلف في إصدار هذا المعجم (معجم المصطلحات السياسية المتداولة في العالم وتعريفاتها) أن يكون شاملاً للموضوعات الموسعة، فجاءت معيناً للباحث والدارس والقارئ والمتتبع، كونه كان المعاون المتمكن من خلال شروحاته ويسر عباراته وفاعلية مادته.
